W. Rogers Company will team up with GRW Inc., a full-service engineering and architecture firm based out of Lexington, for the design and construction of the Stage 2 Disinfectant/Disinfection Byproducts Rule (D/DBPR) Improvements for Indiana-American Water at five treatment plant locations in Kokomo and Richmond, Indiana.
This project involves the addition of new chemical feed facilities for two water treatment plants in Kokomo, Ind. and three water treatment plants in Richmond, Ind. The plants range in capacity from three to 17 MGD.
The chemical feed facilities will consist of new ammonia feed and storage facilities at all five plant sites, new sodium permanganate feed and storage facilities at the Middle Fork plant, surface/groundwater blending point modifications at the Kokomo Treatment Center plant, and existing chlorine feed equipment upgrades at all plant site, including new chemical feed buildings or room additions.
The primary goal of the project will be to comply with the maximum contaminant levels for total trihalomethanes (TTHM) and haloacetic acids (HAA5) on a locational running annual average within the respective distribution systems as set forth in the upcoming Stage 2 Rule.
Design and permitting will continue through the 3rd quarter of 2010. Construction will begin in September 2010 and is scheduled to be complete by July 2011.
