The United Way of the Bluegrass and W. Rogers Company are proud to announce that Augustana will be performing a free concert at the 10,000 Hours Show on April 8 at Busterīs Billiards and Backroom in Lexington.
This concert is to reward community volunteers and is limited to 1,000 volunteers who register and log 10 or more service hours before March 31.
The 10,000 Hours Show is a year-round effort to engage college students and young professionals in volunteer service that culminates in a free concert. The only way to gain admission to the show is to volunteer with local nonprofits. No tickets will be sold.
Getting involved is easy. First, sign up online at www.10KHoursShow.com It takes less than a minute and itīs free. Next, volunteer at local nonprofits and log 10 hours or more on the website. Finally, claim your ticket and rock with Augustana on April 8.
As an extra incentive, United Way is drawing names each week for tickets to an exclusive pre-party where guests will have an opportunity to meet the band. To be eligible, you must register and log volunteer hours.
Time spent volunteering between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010 counts toward the 10-hour total. Those needing additional volunteer hours to qualify can choose from hundreds of opportunities online at 10KHoursShow.com.
Volunteers may include nonprofits not currently listed on the website as long as the hours can be verified by United Way via that nonprofit agency. The show is open to volunteers 18 years of age and older.
Augustana, who has hits such as Boston, Sweet and Low, and Hey Now, is a California-based rock band that has made big waves, starting with their hit Boston which reached #1 on the Billboard chart. That album, All the Stars and Boulevards, made its way into the Billboard Top 40.
