Lexington, KY | April 23, 2010

The United Way of the Bluegrass 10,000 Hours Show, presented by W. Rogers Company, was a huge success! On April 8th, hundreds of volunteers rocked out with Augustana and Sixtyfourwest at Busterīs Billiards and Backroom.

Over 1,900 people participated in the 10,000 Hours Show and together broke the goal 10,000 hours by logging a total of 32,457 hours of volunteerism in the Bluegrass Region.

The economic impact of 32,457 volunteer hours equates to $657,254.25. This is based on the estimated value of an hour of volunteer service, which is $20.25 and estimated by the Independent Sector, a national advocacy group for volunteers and community service groups.

"On behalf of W. Rogers Company, I am thrilled by how many hours the volunteers logged," Warren Rogers said. "We have such a large base of volunteers in the Bluegrass, who truly deserved an experience and reward like this for their hard work."

The 10,000 Hours Show is a year-long effort to promote volunteerism in the Bluegrass Region. This was the first annual show and was developed out of the 2009 Leadership Lexington Class.
