This project consisted of the construction of a 3.5 MGD expansion, including two (2) Carrousel® oxidation ditches, two (2) 110¹ circular clarifiers, one (1) remote pump station, RAS/WAS pump station, lime sludge stabilization facility (to produce Class B sludge) and extensive retrofit of the existing plant. Retrofit included converting an existing EQ Basin to four (4) individual Carrousel® racetracks by constructing divider walls, turning vanes, and support slabs and walkways in the basins. Other modifications included removal of two (2) 60¹ diameter digester covers modifications to the concrete structures and conversion to one (1) gravity thickener and one (1) aerated sludge storage facility; removal of vacuum filters and installation of a two-meter belt filter press within the same space; removal, re-flighting, repainting and reinstallation of existing influent screw pumps.
W. Rogers Company (WRC) also drilled, shot, excavated and disposed of approximately 25,000 cubic yards of rock; excavated, placed, redistributed or otherwise disposed of approximately 50,000 CY of earth; installed and tested 7,900 LF (355 tons) of exterior ductile iron pipe with fittings in sizes 4" to 42". More than 3,000 feet was in size 30" to 42". Particularly challenging was a 200' section of 42" diameter pipe 10' to 15' below grade that was at the toe of a berm surrounding the site. This section of line required a combination of shoring and trench boxes to lay the pipe in a safe manner and to protect the berm from slipping.
WRC personnel placed and cured more than 6,000 CY of structural concrete. This required the construction, placement and removal of more than 190,000 SF of forming surface and finishing of approximately the same quantity.
